The Gorge

{4.5/5} “I’m telling you there have been 9 Soviet/Russian heads of state and 13 US presidents since the coalitions were formed. And not one of them has known about the Gorge.”

The Gorge, released in 2025

Levi is a sniper who’s recruited and taken by plane to an unknown location — he parachutes out, walks some distance, and meets his contact. He reveals that he’s been there a year, seen no one, and Levi is his replacement. There’s a tower at the edge of a gorge with everything he needs in it. There’s also a tower on the other side of the gorge, but there is to be no contact. Then he sees the woman on the other side.

It’s about forming a bond with someone even though they’re some distance away. It’s also about finding out about something horrifying, a mistake people made.

I like how they watch each other through binoculars.

It’s a beautiful love story in an action/fantasy wrapper.

There are one or two logical flaws, but the actors make you believe in the situation.

Stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Miles Teller, and Sigourney Weaver. Directed by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange).
