Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
{5/5} “We believe apes built this as a refuge for humans… Perhaps here humans were cared for, fed, maybe even taught.”
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, released in 2024
Noa, Anaya, and Soona are out gathering eagle eggs for bonding day. They catch a glimpse of someone not ape in the forest. They retrieve a scrap of a blanket and take it back to their village. The elders decide it has Echo blood on it and Oda will go out and scare the Echo away. The Echo follows Noa back to the village, though, and she accidentally breaks his egg. He heads out to find another egg, even though it’s night.
This is a sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes but takes place many years later.
It’s about people who want to live in peace, and people who want to have power over others. It’s about friendship, bravery, and learning shocking things about your world.
Although it covers some familiar ground, it does so with elegance and characters you care about.
It is beautifully filmed. You will forget that the apes are CGI.
Dichen Lachman has a small but important part.
Stars William H. Macy, Freya Allan, Peter Macon, and Owen Teague. Directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner).
