My Old Ass

{4.5/5} “Actually, I kind of miss my toe.”

My Old Ass, released in 2024

While on a camping trip with best friends Ruthie and Ro, Elliott gets high from mushrooms and meets her future 39-year-old self. She gives herself a bit of advice — stay away from Chad. While taking a swim as a break from farmwork, Elliott runs into a guy named Chad. She also takes the older Elliott’s advice and hangs out more with her family.

I’m not usually interested in drug-induced hallucinations, but it was just a way of getting the two Elliotts together.

It’s about wanting to make things easier for your younger self. It’s about the beauty of the time in your life when you’re leaving home for the first time.

I like how it takes place in Canada, unlike most movies that are filmed here.

Stars Maisy Stella, Aubrey Plaza, and Percy Hynes White. Directed by Megan Park (The Fallout).
