Interior Chinatown

{4.5/5} “‘What are you doing?’ ‘Loading the truck.’ ‘We’re unloading.’ ‘Are you sure?'”

Interior Chinatown, aired in 2024

Willis Wu is a background actor in a TV show. Within the show, he’s working as a waiter — but he wants to do more. He witnesses an abduction. Then a detective comes into the restaurant and enlists his help — she wants a glass with fingerprints of a bad guy. Then she reveals that she’s looking into the disappearance of his brother from 12 years ago, and needs his help.

This is a mini-series.

Its humour and novelty will grab you from the 1st episode.

It has a weirdness to it, but it is enjoyable. It’s a bit like Free Guy, in that people don’t realize they’re in a TV show and they experience strange things.

It’s based on the novel by Charles Yu (How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe).

Taika Waititi directed the 1st episode.

Stars Jimmy O. Yang, Ronny Chieng, and Chloe Bennet.

Created by Charles Yu (story editor on Westworld).
