Murderbot (season 1)

{5/5} “‘Where you from?’ ‘Industrial Junction 151523.’ ‘That sounds nice.'”

Murderbot season 1, aired in 2025

A cyborg who calls itself Murderbot has hacked its security system and is now free. It’s still working for humans, though, because it doesn’t know what else to do. After taking its helmet off and effectively calming a wounded crew member, the other crew become suspicious, especially Gurathin. When they can’t reach a team elsewhere on the planet, they decide to go check it out.

This show is based on The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. This season specifically is based on All Systems Red, and it’s even funnier than the novella.

It’s different enough, and funny enough, and well acted so that even if you’ve read the story not too long ago it’s still highly enjoyable.

Clark Gregg, John Cho, and Jack McBrayer are delightful on the show that Murderbot watches, The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon.

Stars Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Noma Dumezweni, and David Dastmalchian.

Created by Paul Weitz (writer on Antz) and Chris Weitz (writer on The Creator).
