Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — The Long Night
{4.5/5} “If anyone else identified it, they would have a riot on their hands. So Dax decided to create one of her own. ‘Drinks on the house!’ she shouted. ‘Rom will take orders.’ A huge cheer went up and extended to the farthest reaches of the bar.”
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — The Long Night by Dean Wesley Smith & Kristine Kathryn Rusch, published in 1996
When Dax recognizes a statue someone is trying to sell Quark, she immediately informs Commander Sisko. She believes someone has found the Nibix, a legendary ship full of riches — and people. Nog and Jake are playing baseball when a ball hits the bulkhead and causes a dent. Jake realizes that this area behind the metal is hollow and he wonders what’s behind it.
This novel is about what happens when a secret is leaked, and when an 800-year-old ship with the ruler of his people on it is found.
The regulars are joined by semi-regulars Rom, Nog, Gul Dukat — and Grand Nagus Zek.
This writing duo always comes up with an interesting story.
I’ve read 9 novels by Rusch and 10 by Smith (plus 6 anthologies he edited). I previously reviewed Star Trek: The Rings of Tautee.
