Twice
{4.5/5} “Later that day, when our class (again) went to the zoo, I stood next to Esther. When that lion roared, I didn’t flinch. I didn’t say a thing. I wanted to brag, ‘Hey, I just ran into his cage! He was this close to eating me!’ But it’s not like I had any proof. My first chances let me be Superman. My second chances, I was stuck as Clark Kent.”
Twice by Mitch Albom, published in 2025
When Alfie is a kid he discovers that he can redo any event in his life. But only once — if the second time doesn’t work out he has to live with it. He gets himself out of scrapes, awkward encounters with girls, and even a new stepmother. When he tries to save his friend Wesley from dying in Cambodia he realizes that he can’t stop someone from dying.
This book has a similar premise to The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August but is different enough to be worth reading.
It’s about the consequences on your relationships of going back and doing things differently.
This is the 1st book I’ve read by Albom. I will read at least one more.
