Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight — Duel (Annual #1) by Denny O’Neil, published in 1991
Batman returns to the monastery high in the mountains in Korea where he learned many things years ago. The master invites him to open a door. He ends up in a strange cavern where he’s attacked by different creatures and meets dangers and temptations. He steps through portals and ends up in different places and times.
It’s nice that Batman uses his wits but the things that happen are a bit random. The ending is good, though.
The artwork is good, done by a variety of people including Joe Quesada and Ty Templeton. The cover by Mike Mignola is terrific.
