When Mabel decides to free the turtle in her classroom, as well as all the other animals in the school, she gets in trouble. Her mom drops her off at her grandma’s place. Initially she’s annoyed but her grandma introduces her to the concept that being present in nature can calm her down. Years later the mayor is planning on building a highway through her grandma’s old property — when Mabel tries to stop him, he says she has 48 hours to find a bunch of signatures. Of course, when she show up at everyone’s door they immediately close it.
Mabel is a great character to follow — she believes in what she’s doing and has stunning hair.
This movie shows you that a skateboard can come in handy even if you don’t skate on it.
It’s very funny. It does get a bit silly, but you can survive it.
The message about the value of animals and their habitats is a good one. It’s a bit heavy handed, but obviously some people still need to hear it in 2026.
