Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie

{5/5} “I have a feeling that right off the bat they’re going to ask for an encore.”

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, released in 2025

Matt and Jay have a band that they call Nirvanna the Band. They particularly would like to play at the Rivoli, so they make some flyers that say they’re going to have a show there. Seventeen years later, they still want to play at the Rivoli, so their new plan is to skydive into the SkyDome and say that they’re playing tonight at the Rivoli.

This movie is hilarious. It comes after a web series and a TV series featuring the same characters, but you can watch this without anything else.

A cool behind-the-scenes tidbit is that since they had footage from 2008 from their web series, when they time travel in this movie some of the time they’re actually using footage they previously filmed during that year.

In the movie the way that the characters discover that it’s 2008 is clever.

They often interact with regular people on the street — and get their permission later to use the footage in the movie.

Stars Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol. Directed by Matt Johnson (BlackBerry). The music by Jay McCarrol has Back to the Future-like aspects to it.
