Prey
{5/5} “You’re ready to hunt something that’s hunting you.”
Prey, released in 2022
In 1719 Naru is a Comanche girl who knows about herbs for healing but she also wants to hunt. She’s very skilled with axe throwing, and has a faithful dog, Sarii. She even invents a new technique, tying a rope to an axe so she can get it back quicker. They almost catch a deer in the forest but get distracted. A predator has arrived, one unlike any she has imagined.
I wasn’t expecting to watch any Predator movies after the first one, and was startled to find how amazing this one is many years later.
It was beautifully filmed, both day and night scenes.
There are some intense parts.
The solution is clever, and makes sense based on what we know.
I liked how the indigenous people were portrayed — they’re just normal people doing their normal things.
It was filmed in Alberta.
Stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, and Dane DiLiegro. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane). The music is by Sarah Schachner.
