Summer Time Machine Blues
{4/5} “Who took my Vidal Sassoon?”
Summer Time Machine Blues, released in 2005
Members of a Sci-Fi Club play baseball, only to get some pictures of themselves playing it. They don’t actually read sci-fi, of course. It’s really hot but an accident causes Coke to spill on the remote for their air conditioner — which can’t be turned on without the remote. When a time machine shows up, they think it’s a prank — but it’s not.
This is a Japanese movie. Science fiction fans with some patience should give it a try.
You might be wondering what’s going on at the beginning but keep watching.
It’s about what happens when you screw things up and then have to fix them.
It’s funny but it’s also very silly. The way the whole group says “ohhhhh” the same way every other minute, and more generally the exaggerated acting style gets a bit tiresome.
Stars Eita Nagayama, Yoshiaki Yoza, and DaijirĂ´ Kawaoka. Directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro (Bayside Shakedown). The music by Halfby suits the zaniness of the movie.
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it.
