Star Trek: Partners?

{4.5/5} “‘This conversation will remain confidential?’ ‘It never took place. But why tell us something you won’t tell your own superiors?’ ‘You won’t execute me.'” — a Klingon defense officer & Kirk

Star Trek: Partners? by Howard Weinstein, published in 2 issues from Mar. 1991 to Apr. 1991

The USS Lafayette is attacked by an unknown ship but Klingons come to their aid. The Needran system has resources that both the Federation and the Klingons need, so there is a treaty in place. When the Enterprise is sent in to help, the Klingons send in a battle cruiser as well. A coded message is sent from the planet out into space — Kirk wants to know what it says and who sent it.

It’s about working with people who are very different from you, and forging an agreement with people who have until now been aggressive.

The artwork by Ken Hooper and Bob Dvorak is good.

I’ve read 5 novels and a bunch of comic books by Weinstein.

Peter David has a couple of issues coming up but Weinstein becomes the regular writer on this series.
