Kara Zor-El is an intergalactic party girl — she parties hard, then comes home and sleeps with her dog, Krypto. Her cousin Kal-El wants her to come back to Metropolis on Earth but she’s not too excited about that. When Ruthye’s family is killed by bad guy Krem she goes looking for someone to help her get her revenge. Ruthye is a kid and Kara is hung over but they end up on the same ship headed for trouble.
The story is a bit like True Grit, which was on purpose. You eventually find out, through astonishing flashbacks, why Kara is so angry.
It’s very funny. When Lobo says “happy birthday” to Kara, that is priceless. The scene where she’s fighting some bad guys after stealing one of their cloaking devices is clever.
The relationship between Kara and Ruthye is a superb part of the movie.
