Industrial Magic
{4/5} “Vamps are dead already, remember? So where do the dead go when they die? There’s a stumper. All I know is there are no dead vampires in the ghost world. My opinion? This is their afterlife.”
Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong, published in 2004
Paige Winterbourne builds web sites for people — she’s also a witch. Her boyfriend Lucas is the son of the head of the Cortez Cabal, but he’s the black sheep of the family. His father brings to their attention a case he knew would interest them — a young witch has been attacked, the daughter of a Cabal employee. Lucas and Paige refuse to take the case, but then there’s another attack.
It’s reminiscent of Tanya Huff.
Armstrong has done lots of world building, so you feel the world is real. It’s a world where vampires, werewolves, witches, and demons all live alongside humans.
It’s well written, but it didn’t grab me quite as much as I wanted it to.
This is the 1st book I’ve read by Armstrong.
