The Time Keeper
{4/5} “He laid out his collection of stones that charted the stages of the moon. Nim did not understand most of what Dor said. He shook his head and insisted the sun god and the moon god were in constant battle; that accounted for their rise and fall. Power was what mattered.”
The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom, published in 2012
Dor is an unusual boy — he’s obsessed with counting things. Eventually he even counts the phase of the moon, creating the very first calendar. After his wife dies he goes back to the city and starts going up the tower that his old friend Nim built. The tower, later called the Tower of Babel, fell apart but Dor made it to a new place — where he became Father Time.
It’s about how almost everyone wants more time, and the one man who’s forced to listen to all of them.
It’s well written, but 2 of the storylines are fairly standard.
This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Albom. I previously reviewed Twice.
