Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

{4/5} “We’ve got a nervous slinky.”

Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, released in 2007

Mr. Magorium has lived for over 200 years and it’s time for him to go. He’s leaving his magic toy store to his store manager, Mahoney. But Mahoney wants to be a musician. To get things in order for the transfer, Mr. Magorium hires an accountant — who doesn’t see the magic.

It’s about the joy of life, and starting a new chapter.

The story doesn’t have the level of detail of Stranger Than Fiction, but it has a good message.

Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman make you believe in the magic.

Stars Jason Bateman and Zach Mills. Directed by Zach Helm (writer of Stranger Than Fiction). The playful music is by Alexandre Desplat and Aaron Zigman.
