A Simple Favor

{5/5} “I’ve seen him with his wife. Let me tell you, they’ve got more chemistry than a science fair.”

A Simple Favor, released in 2018

Stephanie’s friend Emily is missing. They’ve only been friends for a few weeks — their sons go to school together. They’ve bonded over martinis. At least, Stephanie thinks they have. One dad at school thinks that Emily is using Stephanie as an unpaid nanny.

This is a comedy that turns into a mystery. The first part is hilarious and the last part is thrilling.

It’s delightful from start to finish.

Linda Cardellini has a small but memorable role as a tortured artist.

Stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. Directed by Paul Feig (the TV show Freaks and Geeks). Much of the soundtrack consists of catchy French songs from the 1960s.
