Although there are amusing moments, it’s a mostly serious story. It seamlessly switches back and forth between real life and the word of Marwen, which is animated in a unique way.

It’s about healing from a traumatic event.

Steve Carell is astonishing, as always.

Stars Leslie Mann and Merritt Wever. Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Death Becomes Her). The music is by Alan Silvestri.
