Rango
{4.5/5} “What our story needs is an unexpected event that will propel our hero into conflict.”
Rango, released in 2011
Rango is a lizard who lives with humans until the car he’s riding in swerves and his terrarium shatters on the road. He walks through the desert to a town called Dirt, which is in the middle of a terrible drought. Beans has seen someone spilling water out in the desert but no one believes her. After running away from a hawk, Rango inadvertently becomes a hero to the town.
This movie is very funny. It’s about being a better version of yourself.
The animation is terrific, and the owls who periodically play guitar and sing are delightful.
Stars the voices of Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, and Ned Beatty. Directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl). The Mexican flavoured music is by Hans Zimmer.
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it.
