The Addams Family

{5/5} “‘It was my first funeral.’ ‘You were so beautiful, pale and mysterious. No one even looked at the corpse.'”

The Addams Family, released in 1991

The Addams family is highly unusual but fabulously wealthy. The latter causes some people to try to steal from them, including their own lawyer. He cooks up a scheme to have a guy who looks like their long-lost family member Fester to pretend to be Fester. But it turns out the guy really is Fester and lost his early memories 25 years ago.

I love the tone of this movie. The actors are thrillingly brilliant in their roles.

Stars Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, and Dan Hedaya. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black). The mysterious music is by Marc Shaiman, and includes hints of the theme from the TV show.

This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve seen it.

When you look at these original comic strips by Charles Addams, you’ll see that the movie captured the tone perfectly…
