KW Symphony’s “Czech Hits”

I attended the KW Symphony’s concert “Czech Hits.” Here’s the program:

  • Bedrich Smetana
    • Ma vlast (My homeland)
      • The Moldau
      • Sarka
  • Bob Becker
    • Music On The Moon*
  • Dinuk Wijeratne
    • Invisible Cities*
      • Valdrada
      • Ersilia
  • Antonin Dvorak
    • Symphony No. 8 in G major, op. 88

The only piece I knew was the Smetana, and it was glorious — I would have liked to have heard all 6 movements.

However, the other pieces were delightful. I may add one or two of them to my collection.

The orchestra was conducted by Carlos Izcaray.

The TorQ Percussion Quartet joined the orchestra on a couple of pieces.* The sounds of the marimbas in particular gave the music a different and interesting texture.

I previously discussed the KW Symphony’s concert “The Firebird.”
