Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

{4.5/5} “If you aim at nothing, you hit nothing.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, released in 2021

Shaun does valet parking and sings karaoke with his friend Katy. When some guys come out of nowhere to attack Shaun on a bus, Katy discovers he is an incredible martial artist as he defeats them all. When Shaun says he has to go to Macau to protect his sister, Katy is adamant that she’s coming too. On the plane he tells her what he never did before: that his dad trained him to be an assassin, but instead of completing his first mission he ran away.

If you’re looking for action, this is the movie for you. It would have been nice to see on the big screen.

Awkwanfina is hilarious. The unusual animals in Ta Lo are delightful.

Like Turning Red, the 1st half was better than the 2nd half — not that the 2nd half was bad, it was just slightly less interesting.

Ronny Chieng has a great role as a fight announcer. Benedict Wong reprises his role of Wong from Doctor Strange, and Ben Kinglsey plays Trevor Slattery once again.

Stars Simu Liu, Meng’er Zhang, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung, and Michelle Yeoh. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (The Glass Castle). The music, at times Chinese themed, is by Joel P West.

The previous movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Black Widow.
