Obi-Wan Kenobi

{4.5/5} “You’ve made mistakes, we all did. The past. Move on, be done with it. You couldn’t save Anakin. But you can save her.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi, aired in 2022

Obi-Wan Kenobi lives on Tatooine, keeping an eye on young Luke Skywalker and his family. Jedis are still being hunted by inquisitors — a Jedi asks Obi-Wan for help and he tells him to bury his lightsaber. When Leia is kidnapped the Organas call Obi-Wan for help — he tells them to find someone else. Bail visits Obi-Wan and convinces him to help. So Obi-Wan digs up his lightsaber to go on one last adventure.

This is a 6-episode miniseries. It takes place 10 years after Episode III — in other words, Luke and Leia are 10 years old.

It’s great to see Ewan McGregor as Kenobi again — he was certainly one of the better parts of the prequels. They found a terrific actor to play young Leia, Vivien Lyra Blair.

We know what happens before and after, so nothing too surprising can happen — but it’s a nice story for fans of these characters.

The theme was composed by John Williams. The other music by Natalie Holt is delightful and has some Williams flavour to it.

Stars Jimmy Smits, Flea, Kumail Nanjiani, Hayden Christensen, and the voice of James Earl Jones.

The previous TV show in the Star Wars universe is The Book of Boba Fett.
