Predestination

{5/5} “‘One night he sat me down, told me to wait for a moment. Told me he’d be right back.’ ‘And then?’ ‘And then nothing. I never saw him again.'”

Predestination, released in 2014

An agent goes back in time to 1975 to prevent an attack by the Fizzle Bomber. He becomes a bartender so he can be there when a certain man walks in. The man says he will tell him the best story he’s ever heard. The man was born a girl, lived in an orphanage, was trained but rejected by SpaceCorps, had a baby, had her baby stolen, and was forced because of her internal organs to become a man.

You won’t be able to take your eyes off this movie, even if you’ve seen it before.

It’s absolutely breathtaking.

It’s based on a short story, which is a spoiler.*

Stars Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook, and Noah Taylor. Directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers).

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.

Spoiler

*”All You Zombies–” by Robert A. Heinlein
