Station Eternity

{4.5/5} “Anira had spied Mallory’s bookshelf full of her own Charlette Queen mysteries. Anira had asked lots of questions and figured out pretty quickly that Mallory was both the author and the subject of the books. She didn’t believe that they were true stories, of course. No one ever did until it was proven. And then it was too late.”

Station Eternity by Mur Lafferty, published in 2022

Murders follow Mallory wherever she goes. She doesn’t have anything to do with causing them — in fact, she’s solved some of them. But this has led her to leave Earth and come to Station Eternity, where there are only 2 other humans. When she finds out that more humans are coming, she’s worried that a death toll will result.

It’s about a sentient station, murders, and characters who are all related in some way.

Lafferty does a find job inventing interesting aliens. All the nonhumans have symbionts and think they’re better because of it.

It’s both an excellent mystery and excellent science fiction, like Robert J. Sawyer.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Lafferty. I previously reviewed Six Wakes.
