A few Star Wars fan films
I didn’t realize before that there were so many Star Wars fan films — and so many great ones. I’ve already mentioned SC 3, 5, 16, 29, 38 Reimagined and Darth Maul: Apprentice. Here are a few others that are extraordinary.
{5/5} The Battlefield
This is a very short film but it’s absolutely hilarious. It’s a conversation between two stormtroopers while there’s a battle going on near them. The one has never met a Jedi before and doesn’t realize what the deal is when they hear the sounds of a lightsaber. Written and directed by Peter Haynes.

{4.5/5} The Fair Trade
This is a little slice of life on Tatooine involving our old friends C-3PO and R2-D2. C-3PO’s voice is a bit distracting. It relies on a surprise ending that I’m not sure is entirely warranted. But it’s fun, and the visuals and music are well done. Written and directed by Marty Sliwinski.

{5/5} Kenobi
This tells the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine after Episode III. It also features Beru, Owen, and a young Luke. It’s exciting, and fits in perfectly with what we know. It has splendid on-location filiming, and some music that John Williams would appreciate. Written by Jamie Costa, Jason Satterlund, and Rob Harmon. Directed by Jason Satterlund.
{5/5} Star Wars Origins
You won’t believe a fan film can be this amazing until you see this. It’s a clever homage to both Indiana Jones and Star Wars. The visuals, both the desert exteriors and mysterious interior, are stunning. The music is John Williams inspired. Lead actor Marie Everett is terrific. Written and directed by Phil Hawkins.

{4.5/5} Vader Episode I: Shards of the Past
This takes place after Episode III, when Darth Vader is still struggling with anger about Padmé’s death. It ends a bit abruptly. The actors who play the Emperor and Darth Vader do a great job. The visuals are terrific, and it contains some beautiful John Williams music. Written by Danny Ramirez, Star Wars Theory, and Nikolaj Wejp-Olsen. Directed by Danny Ramirez.
