People who have a Zoe implant have all their memories recorded. When they’re dead, a cutter can create an edited version of those memories and give it to someone else. Alan is known as the best cutter in town — he takes on projects that other cutters won’t, where there are disturbing aspects to the life. Some people think the whole thing is a bad idea, and there are protests.
If you’re looking for a Robin Williams movie that you haven’t seen before, you could watch this one, which might have been a bit under the radar when it came out.
It has an intriguing premise and a subdued but yet mesmerizing performance by Williams.
It’s about what happens when you’re tormented by something from your past.
There’s a nice revelation two thirds of the way through.
The ending is a bit odd, as there’s a shift in perspective.
Stars Jim Caviezel and Mira Sorvino. Directed by Omar Naim (the documentary Grand Theater: A Tale of Beirut). The mysterious music by Brian Tyler is particularly brilliant during the opening credits.
