Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Rising Son
{4.5/5} “He turned back, satisfied that his team was on top of things, and grinned, almost laughed out loud; the eager, frightened, delighted look on Jake’s face was priceless. It was the face that every fortune hunter had but kept hidden, and it did his heart good to see Jake wearing it.”
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Rising Son by S. D. Perry, published in 2003
When Jake Sisko when looking for his father in the wormhole, he experienced serious problems with his ship, and he was thrown far away. A ship called the Even Odds rescued him on the Gamma Quadrant side. They are freelance retrievers, wanted by the Dominion. The captain says he’ll take him towards the wormhole, but along the way they have a job to do.
It’s about interacting with people who are generally good people but have slightly different morals than you. There’s a hint of A Fire Upon the Deep to the story.
Jake runs into a Tosk, as well as Kai Opaka.
It’s a unique book as it follows Jake and none of the characters who are back on the station. But it’s well worth reading.
I’ve read 3 books by Perry. I previously reviewed Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Avatar, Book Two.
