Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Unity

{5/5} “Most people know it, but they let themselves forget. They hang on to the pain because it’s familiar, because to let it go might mean having to change. It’s easier to keep the pain than to ask the questions, to find out why you think what you think, to question why you do the things you do.”

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Unity by S. D. Perry, published in 2003

When the Defiant returned to Deep Space Nine from the Gamma Quadrant, they found an unexpected fleet of Cardassian ships. Colonel Kira asks Commander Vaughn and his crew to submit to scanning by the Cardassians. Back on the station, she reveals the reason — the parasites who had infiltrated Starfleet 12 years ago are back. They want to destroy Trill..

In addition to the regulars, Miles O’Brien and Joseph Sisko show up. Lieutenant Ro has a great role.

The story continues, but this is a beautiful culmination of the characters and ideas of Deep Space Nine. It’s about moving on from your past.

I’ve read 4 books by Perry. I previously reviewed Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Rising Son.
