I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore

{5/5} “It’s not your lawn tiger.”

I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, released in 2017

Ruth is a normal person who’s always running into people who are doing absurdly terrible things. Her house gets robbed — it seems like she forgot to lock her door. She does have one close friend, and her kid is all right — she draws a picture of Ruth riding a Stegosaurus. But everyone else seems like a jerk.

If you watch the first minute and are already laughing, this is the movie for you.

It’s about taking charge, and finding friendship where you least expect it.

The ending was too bloody for my taste — I looked away once or twice. Other than that, I loved it.

Melanie Lynskey is magnificent as Ruth.

Stars Elijah Wood, Gary Anthony Williams, and Jane Levy. Directed by Macon Blair (writer on Small Crimes).
