Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
{5/5} “We’re really gonna be able to jack up our prices if we’re two-time galaxy savers.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, released in 2017
The Guardians are working for the Sovereign, protecting their valuable batteries from a giant monster. They manage to defeat the monster, but on the way out Rocket steals some of the batteries. With dozens of Sovereign ships after them, a mysterious stranger rescues them. It turns out that the man is Peter’s father, who’s been looking for him. It also turns out that he’s not a man, he’s a Celestial — essentially, a god.
This is a worthy sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s hilariously delightful.
In addition to stunning action, it also features beautiful interactions between the characters.
Our old friend Stan Lee has a nice cameo.
Stars Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, and Elizabeth Debicki. Directed by James Gunn (The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special). The music is by Tyler Bates.
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My earlier review is here.
