Shazam! Fury of the Gods, released in 2023
Billy is trying to keep his super team together but they all seem to be going in different directions. They manage to save a bunch of people from a collapsing bridge, but the bridge did collapse. Meanwhile, Hespera and Kalypso, daughters of Atlas, have acquired the Wizard’s staff and put it back together. They capture Freddy and put a dome around the city, where everyone else is trapped.
The visuals are great — in particular, the dragon has a nice look to it.
As for the story, it’s a worthy sequel — it’s more interesting than Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
There is at least one problems. Having a teenager date a 6000-year-old woman is not appropriate.
There’s a cameo at the end from someone you’ll delight in seeing.*
Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu are suitably menacing.
