Star Trek: DS9 — I, the Constable

{4.5/5} “Leeta leaned over and whispered into one of her mother-in-law’s lobes: ‘He’s a shape-shifter, Moogie.’ ‘Oh,’ Ishka said. Followed by ‘Oh! Of course! Silly me!’ as comprehension flooded her wrinkled features. ‘That’s very convenient, Odo! What a shame you can’t teach that skill to others. You could make a considerable profit.'”

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — I, the Constable by Paula M. Block and Terry J. Erdmann, published in 2017

Quark heads to Feringinar because his uncle Frin has died — his uncle who owned a chain of 30 taverns. Meanwhile, Odo has been enjoying Mike Hammer novels that Chief O’Brien recommended. Now he’s writing a letter to Kira, who’s on a retreat. When Quark fails to return and no one has heard from him in days, Captain Ro asks Odo to investigate. The first thing Odo finds out is that Frin had 3 wives when he died.

This is a short story released only as an ebook.

It’s a fun story for fans of Odo and Quark. Rom is also featured.

This is the 3rd story I’ve read by Block and Erdmann. I previously reviewed Star Trek: DS9 — Rules of Accusation.
