Star Trek: DS9 — Rules of Accusation
{4.5/5} “Quark shrugged. ‘It’s traditional. No Ferengi would be caught dead at a party where he didn’t have to bribe the host to gain attendance.’ He showed her a sample invitation. Neatly printed at the bottom were the initials RSVP, followed by a long string of numbers. ‘This,’ he explained, ‘means Response Signifies Vault Payment.'”
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — Rules of Accusation by Paula M. Block and Terry J. Erdmann, published in 2016
Grand Nagus Rom is heading to the new Deep Space Nine to attend a dedication ceremony for making Quark’s bar a Ferengi embassy. When Captain Ro visits Quark to get his guest list he calls them VIFs, Very Important Ferengi. But aside from family, none of the VIFs had RSVPed. His apprentice Shmenge has an idea for something he can use as an enticement to get people to come — the original scroll of the Rules of Acquisition.
This is a short story available only as an ebook.
It features people like Miles O’Brien, Odo, Zek, Ishka, and Morn and fun references to things like Harry Mudd, the Wadi, the Xindi, and tribbles.
It’s about getting to the bottom of a mystery, and then another one.
This is the 2nd story I’ve read by Block and Erdmann. I previously reviewed Star Trek: DS9 — Lust’s Latinum Lost (and Found).
