Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs

{4.5/5} “‘Oh I’m sorry. I should have asked what was bothering you. I’ve been kind of preoccupied.’ ‘With what?’ ‘Well, I went to another universe and fell in love with a giant octopus, and now I’m pope of a new religion.'” — Fry & Bender

Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, released in 2008

No one is sure what to do about the cosmic anomaly. At a scientific conference the Planet Express team is chosen to go study it. But Bender is hurt when he gets rid next to it. President Nixon decides it’s time for the military to do something rather than the scientists. Fry is dating a woman named Colleen — but it turns out she has 4 other boyfriends. Kif and Amy are getting married.

This movie improved on the previous one — they did a better job of stretching out the story to movie length. And it’s funnier.

I like how the front for the League of Robots is called “Horse Repair.”

Stars the voices of Maurice LaMarche, Dan Castellaneta, David Cross, and Stephen Hawking. Directed by Peter Avanzino (supervising director on Futurama). As always, the music is by Christopher Tyng.

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it.

The previous movie in the series is Futurama: Bender’s Big Score.
