Oona Out of Order

{5/5} “A new resolve and optimism suffused Ooona as she boarded the Cairo-bound plane. There was no need to be trapped by her flawed chronology or supposed destiny. She wouldn’t tiptoe around her life, suffer the frustration that resulted from chasing stability. She would not be defeated by her known future.”

Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore, published in 2020

When Oona was 18 she was trying to decide whether to go on tour with her band or go to London with her best friend. When she turned 19 she woke up in the body of a 51-year-old woman She doesn’t believe it at first, but it turns out that every year she jumps to a different year of her life — sometimes in the future, sometimes in the past. She reads a letter from herself that attempts to explain it. And she has an assistant named Kenzie — she’s rich, which is nice.

This premise was irresistible. As for the execution, it’s glorious.

It’s about trying to be a better person, even when life throws you an unusual curveball.

This is the 1st book I’ve read by Montimore.
