Scared Shrekless

{4.5/5} “No one has ever made cookies with this much sugar. You are playing with forces far beyond your comprehension!” — the Muffin Man

Scared Shrekless, released in 2010

Shrek takes the kids for their first Halloween. Back at their house, Donkey and their friends try to scare them, but Shrek says ogres don’t get scared. Shrek decides to have a contest with them — whoever can tell the scariest story wins. He leads them to Lord Farquad’s deserted castle where they will have their scary contest.

This is a short movie that originally appeared on TV.

The welcome-to-Dulat song, which is different this time, is very funny. So is Gingy’s story.

With references to Psycho and The Exorcist, it’s a bit of scary fun.

Stars the voices of Mike Myers and Antonio Banderas. Directed by Gary Trousdale (Shrek the Halls) and Raman Hui (Shrek the Third). Halli Cauthery’s end credits music is a spooky version of Harry Gregson-Williams’s theme.
