Mickey 17

{5/5} “First come, first freeze to death.”

Mickey 17, released in 2025

Mickey is an expendable, which means that when he dies they just print a new copy of his body — with all his memories. He had to get off Earth to escape people he borrowed money from so he’s working in space. One time they let him die just so they could learn about radiation. Now he’s stuck at the bottom of a pit on a planet — they’ve already decided they’re just going to leave him there but he’s still alive.

This movie is about colonizing a new planet, and the ethics of cloning. It’s about what happens when you’re lowest of the low.

It’s also about what happens when you put a stupid person in charge.

It has a great sense of humour.

Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette are always brilliant — here they shine.

Stars Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, and Steven Yeun. Directed by Bong Joon Ho (Parasite).
