Moana 2

{4/5} “You will be destroyed, and your Wayfinder too.”

Moana 2, released in 2024

Moana’s community is alone on an island and they don’t know where any other peopole are. Moana becomes a Wayfinder, and it’s her job to go out and break the curse from the storm god Nalo that hid communities from each other. She might need some help — a demigod like Maui could be helpful. She runs into the Kakamora, and finds out that they’ve also been separated from their people.

I like the characters and it’s funny. I like the way they show the characters know how to sail their boat. The songs are engaging.

The one thing that wasn’t quite up to the greatness of everything else was the plot. But if you liked the first one you could give this one a try.

Stars the voices of Auli’i Cravalh, Dwayne Johnson, Temuera Morrison, and Alan Tudyk. Directed by David G. Derrick Jr. and Jason Hand (story artists on Moana), and Dana Ledoux Miller (writer on the TV show The Newsroom).

The adventurous score is by Mark Mancina. The delightful songs are by Opetaia Foa’i, Abigail Barlow, and Emily Bear.
