The Acolyte (season 1)

{3.5/5} “A scandal like this would inspire fear and mistrust. We should handle this ourselves.”

The Acolyte season 1, aired in 2024

Osha works as a meknek on a Trade Federation ship — she goes outside on the hull to fix problems. She previously trained as a Jedi. Someone matching her description has taken her revenge on Jedi master Indara. When the Jedi come looking for her, it’s her old friend Yord — but he arrests her just the same. The other prisoners on the prisoner ship mount an escape and the ship crashes. Osha’s old master Sol goes to find her — he believes she is innocent.

This Star Wars story takes place 100 years before Episode I.

As usual for a Star Wars production, it has very nice visuals. I like how the Jedi fight calmly. The friendship between Osha and Jecki is a nice part of the show.

Some things that weren’t explained enough, like the fire, were revisited in later episodes and then made more sense. But there were still a few too many things that didn’t make sense — like people who just changed their mind a minute later. It seems to me that we should have found out what the witches do with their power.

It’s about how a tragedy can result from making decisions without having all the information.

Carrie-Anne Moss guest stars in a few episodes — it won’t take long for you to be convinced she is a Jedi master.

Stars Amandla Stenberg, Dafne Keen, and Manny Jacinto.

Created by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll).
