WALL-E

{5/5} “Try blue — it’s the new red!”

WALL-E, released in 2008

WALL-E compacts garbage and puts it into neat piles. When one of his parts is broken he takes one from a machine that’s no longer functional. He and his friend, a cockroach, seem to be the only beings left on Earth — everyone else has gone into space. When he finds a plant that’s alive it sets in motion a series of events that results in him meeting the love of his love and going into space.

This is one of my favourite favourites. It’s stunning from start to finish.

I like how WALL-E throws away the diamond ring and keeps the box.

It’s funny, romantic, and has a nice message.

Stars the voices of Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, and Sigourney Weaver. Directed by Andrew Stanton (A Bug’s Life).

This is the 4th or 5th time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here. In addition to Thomas Newman’s beautiful score, Peter Gabriel’s song “Down to Earth” is delightful.
