DaCapo Chamber Choir’s “Sing Me Home”

I attended the DaCapo Chamber Choir’s concert “Sing Me Home.”

Here’s the program:

  • Timothy Corlis – Silent Dawn
  • Katherine Rose – I Heard the Bird Cry
  • Christine Donkin – I am Here* (from Following the Moonroad)
  • Leonard Enns – How a Place Becomes Holy* (from The Place of Memory)
  • Frank Ticheli – There Will Be Rest
  • Jake Runestad – Come to the Woods**
  • Caroline Shaw – And the Swallow
  • Gerda Blok-Wilson – My Heart is Like a Singing Bird
  • Stephen Paulus – The Road Home
  • Matthew Emery – Lead Us Home
  • René Clausen – Tonight Eternity Alone

*Miriam Stewart-Kroeker accompanied the choir on cello on 2 pieces.

**Catherine Robertson accompanied the choir on piano on 1 piece.

Of the pieces I knew, the Clausen was the most sublime. Of the pieces I didn’t know, the Runestad stood out the most.

The choir is directed by Leonard Enns. In the program he says, “More than four walls and a roof, homes are found in people, in nature, or in profound life-changing experience that makes a particular place holy.”
