Thelma
{5/5} “I think I know her.”
Thelma, released in 2024
Thelma is 93 and a call supposedly from her grandson saying he’s in jail leads her to send a lot of money in the mail. But the she finds out it was a scam. The police can’t really help. Thelma decides to do what Tom Cruise would do, and tracks down the address of the scammer.
It’s about the pitfalls and joys of being old.
I like how Thelma keeps running into people she thinks she might know.
The movie is absolutely thrilling and hilarious.
Parker Posey and Clark Gregg are brilliant as always. June Squibb is delightful.
Stars Richard Roundtree, Fred Hechinger, and Malcolm McDowell. Directed by Josh Margolin (his first movie). The spy-mission music by Nick Chuba is terrific.
