Star Trek: Enterprise — Daedalus

{4.5/5} “‘I won’t supply you with warp technology… It would significantly alter the balance of power between you and this Sadir. My captain wouldn’t allow that to happen.’ And Trip wouldn’t allow himself to make the same mistake twice.”

Star Trek: Enterprise — Daedalus by Dave Stern, published in 2003

Captain Archer wants to investigate an anomaly but there’s a prewarp civilization nearby who has ships in an asteroid belt. He’s hoping Trip and T’Pol can get the cloaking device working on the Suliban ship. Meanwhile, one of Trip’s engineers has discovered that the Suliban ship uses an ion drive. Trip was part of an ion drive project called Daedalus 14 years ago that ended in failure.

It’s about helping and getting to know people who happen to be at war.

Fans of Trip will be particularly interested in this one.

The story doesn’t conclude but continues into the sequel.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Stern. I previously reviewed Star Trek: Enterprise — Rosetta.
