Elio

{4.5/5} “Hi Dad. I’m a bargaining chip.”

Elio, released in 2025

Elio’s parents died and he lives with his aunt Olga, who’s always busy with work. Elio goes to the beach and writes a giant “Aliens! abduct me!!!” message. When Voyager’s message is sent back to Earth, Elio, having snuck into a garbage can, manages to send a reply. Olga still doesn’t think aliens are actually coming, but Elio is very excited. Elio is taken up to a ship where Ooooo, a liquid supercomputer, introduces him to the Communiverse.

This is an animated movie, with interesting visuals.

It is often amusing, and has a nice message about being true to yourself.

Directed by Adrian Molina (Coco), Madeline Sharafian (story lead on Turning Red), and Domee Shi (writer on Turning Red).
