Star Trek: Section 31
{3/5} “In my universe, there were always plotters. Always a coup. So I built a weapon to end all threats. I called it the Godsend.”
Star Trek: Section 31, released in 2024
Philippa Georgiou was ruthless as emperor of the Terran Empire. Decades later she worked, in another universe, for Section 31. Now she’s been found again, and near a threat outside of Federation space. Section 31 sends its alpha team to make contact with her and neutralize the threat. Included on the team is Lieutenant Rachel Garrett. When they grab the man with the bioweapon someone else slips in to take it from them — and Georgiou realizes she’s seen the weapon before.
In the first 20 minutes they copied from The Hunger Games and Men in Black. Worse than that, the people on the alpha team have trouble even working together — it doesn’t seem much like an alpha team.
The overall story is good but there are a bunch of details that could have been better.
If you want to see how a Star Trek movie could be worse than Nemesis, you could watch this. Otherwise, you might want to watch something else.
If you want a great Georgiou story, read Star Trek Discovery — Die Standing.
Stars Michelle Yeoh, Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, and Sam Richardson. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi (a bunch of episodes of Star Trek: Discovery).
