The Big Door Prize (season 1)

{4.5/5} “This machine, whether it’s magic or not, is reminding people that our lives have more than one possible path.”

The Big Door Prize season 1, aired in 2023

Dusty is a teacher whose wife gives him a bunch of presents when he turns 40, including a scooter which he rides to school. At the store where he buys his coffee there’s a new machine — it supposedly tells you your life potential. Soon everyone has gotten a little blue card from the machine. Except Dusty — but he keeps thinking about it. Some people make big changes based on their card — the principal buys a motorcycle.

This show has a unique premise. In addition to continuing the story about Dusty and his family and students, each episode has a bit of a focus on one person who’s gotten a card from the machine.

It’s fun and thought-provoking.

Stars Chris O’Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, Sammy Fourlas, and Djouliet Amara.

Created by David West Read (writer on Schitt’s Creek).
