The Dish

{5/5} “And so Australia becomes a vital cog in this grand endeavor.”

The Parkes telescope has a role to play in the Apollo 11 Moon landing — chosen because it’s the biggest one in the southern hemisphere, it’s in Australia. When the ship is facing the southern hemisphere, it will be used to relay signals. Because of them, people watching TV can see men walking on the Moon live. People in Parkes are very excited about this, and the Prime Minister is paying them a visit.

This is a fun movie showing the Apollo 11 mission from a different perspective, one I had no idea about when I watched the movie the 1st time.

It’s about smart people doing their jobs with a bit of extra pressure, and making one little mistake.

The story is filled with beautifully idiosyncratic characters.

It’s about a moment in time when everyone on Earth was one.

Stars Sam Neill, Patrick Warburton, Tom Long, and Kevin Harrington. Directed by Rob Sitch (The Castle).

This is the 2nd time I’ve watched it.
