Star Trek Destiny: Lost Souls

{5/5} “Keru wished that he and Torvig had access to Titan’s main computer and sensor module. He asked, ‘If the planet wasn’t covered up, how detectable would those particles be?’ ‘To anyone with the ability to scan that frequency, they would be the brightest energy source in the galaxy.'”

Star Trek Destiny: Lost Souls by David Mack, published in 2008

Captain Picard is surprised to hear from Captain Riker, because he and the Titan were supposed to be months away. But he’s very close, thanks to a mysterious guest — Captain Hernandez who disappeared 200 years ago. The Borg have sent an armada to destroy the Federation, the Klingon Empire, and the Romulan Empire. Captain Picard is eager to meet Hernandez, as he hopes that her experience with the Caeliar will help them with the Borg.

This is the sequel to Mere Mortals and concludes the trilogy.

It’s a stunning culmination, revealing the origin of the Borg and their ultimate fate.

It’s about beings whose energy has been depleted so much that they’ve forgotten who they are. It’s about being willing to entertain outside-the-box ideas.

This is the 2nd time I’ve read it.

I’ve read 15 books by Mack.
